Do you guarantee rankings?
No, and let’s break a common taboo while we’re at it.
No serious SEO agency or consultant can guarantee specific rankings, traffic numbers, or placements in search results and AI platforms. SEO is influenced by countless external factors, including algorithm updates, competitor activity, and shifting search intent. If someone promises #1 rankings for highly competitive keywords, guarantees a 100x ROI, or claims they can get you featured in AI Overviews or any other specific SERP feature, that’s a red flag.
What we do offer is clear, evidence-based strategy, deep technical and content expertise, and transparent reporting. We focus on the right actions that lead to better visibility, stronger user engagement, and long-term organic growth. Results come from doing the right work, not making empty promises.
Do you offer free audits?
We don’t offer full audits for free, and there’s a good reason for that.
Most “free audits” are little more than automated reports generated by third-party tools. They lack context, overlook strategic priorities, and often produce generic checklists with very few actionable insights. Even in the era of AI, a meaningful SEO audit must be conducted by a human consultant who understands your business, your website, and your audience. That level of insight requires time, experience, and critical thinking.
What we do offer is a free top-level evaluation, with no obligation. This gives you a high-level view of your current SEO position and a sense of where the opportunities lie. If it looks like we can help, we’ll outline the next steps. If not, you’ll still walk away with useful perspective, no strings attached.
Do you work with all industries?
We work with most industries, including eCommerce, B2B, SaaS, and service-based businesses. However, we do not take on projects in the arms or weapons industries, or sectors that promote unhealthy addictions such as gambling, betting, smoking, or vaping.
Do you outsource your work?
No. All SEO consulting is handled in-house by Alfonso Mannella. For localisation or content-heavy projects, we collaborate with trusted partners such as experienced copywriters and localisation firms, always with quality and consistency in mind and under our control.
Do you offer paid or social media services?
No, we prefer to focus on what we are good at, SEO and UX. However, we have strong relationships with both agencies and independent consultants that specialise in paid advertising and social media campaigns. We are happy to refer you to trusted partners if needed.
How do you communicate progress and results?
We believe that clear, consistent communication is just as important as the work itself.
Progress is typically shared through a combination of written updates, performance reports, and regular check-ins, tailored to what works best for you. Most clients receive monthly reporting that includes key metrics such as organic traffic trends, visibility improvements, ranking movement, technical progress, key events and content performance.
In addition to formal reporting, we’re always available for ad hoc calls or quick updates, especially during busy periods like site launches, migrations, or campaign rollouts. For long-term projects or agency partnerships, we can also set up shared dashboards, contribute to internal reporting workflows, or join weekly team calls.
Whether you prefer a hands-off approach or more frequent collaboration, we adapt to your communication style and ensure you’re always up to speed on what’s been done, what’s next, and why it matters.
Do you offer one-off SEO consultations or reviews?
Yes, we do. While many clients choose to work with us on an ongoing basis, we also offer one-off consultations and focused SEO reviews for businesses or agencies that need expert input on a specific issue.
This can include things like a website health check, content strategy validation, a second opinion on recommendations from another provider, or advice ahead of a platform migration or redesign. It’s a flexible option for businesses or teams who want clarity before committing to a longer-term engagement.
One-off sessions are billed hourly, with a clear scope agreed beforehand. Whether you need fresh eyes on your current strategy or expert advice to support an internal team, we’re happy to help. If ongoing support is needed later on, we can pick up from where we left off - no pressure and no obligation.
How do I know if SEO is right for me?
It’s an important question and the honest answer is that SEO isn’t always the right fit.
If your main priority is generating immediate results or a fast return on spend, SEO may not be the ideal channel to invest in. Organic growth takes time, consistency, and a long-term mindset. It’s not a quick win, but a strategic investment that builds momentum over months, not days.
We believe in managing expectations clearly and upfront. If we assess your goals and believe SEO is not the right channel for your current stage or business model, we’ll say so before any work begins. No sales pitch, no false promises. We can shake hands and part ways on good terms. No hard feelings.
Do you use AI for your SEO work?
Yes, but responsibly. We use AI tools to streamline and automate repetitive tasks and improve efficiency. All analysis, strategic planning, and recommendations are carried out by a human SEO consultant to ensure accuracy, nuance, and relevance.
Do you also offer link building?
Yes we do, but only as part of a holistic SEO strategy.
We approach link building through organic, ethical methods such as content pitching, Digital PR, and securing placements in relevant local or industry-specific directories. We never rely on guest posting schemes, paid link lists, or networks of low-quality domains (PBNs or link farms) that exist solely for SEO manipulation.
On rare occasions, we may invest in a paid placement if it offers genuine visibility and value to your audience. But our focus is always on quality over quantity. Importantly, we do not run standalone link building campaigns. We see SEO as a complete ecosystem, and link acquisition should serve a broader strategy, not exist in isolation.
How many clients do you work with at a time?
We focus on quality over quantity.
As an independent SEO consultant, we intentionally work with a limited number of clients at any given time. This allows us to give each project the attention it deserves and to deliver thoughtful, in-depth work rather than spreading ourselves too thin. Our aim is to become a trusted partner, not just a vendor.
Can you be outsourced full time?
In some cases yes, depending on availability.
We can take on full-time consulting contracts (40 hours per week, five days a week) for large-scale SEO projects or ongoing campaigns, particularly for digital or SEO agencies needing temporary cover or to fill a skills gap.
However, full-time availability may not be immediate, as we carefully manage capacity to ensure quality of service across all clients. If you’re considering this arrangement, please get in touch to discuss timelines and current availability.
Where is Origin SEO based?
We are based in Auckland, New Zealand. That said, we work with clients globally and adapt to different time zones and regions with no issues.
How long before we see results from SEO?
This depends on several factors, including the current state of your website, the competitiveness of your industry, your existing content and technical foundation, and the scope of work we’re implementing.
Some technical improvements, such as fixing indexing issues, cleaning up crawl waste, or improving internal linking, can lead to noticeable changes within a few weeks. However, most meaningful and lasting SEO results typically take three to six months to materialise if not more, especially in very competitive verticals and markets.
SEO is not a quick fix. It’s a long-term strategy that builds momentum over time. What we focus on from the start is prioritising the areas that will make the most impact, tracking progress with the right metrics, and making consistent improvements that compound.
We always set realistic expectations and keep you informed of what progress looks like at each stage, whether that’s improved visibility, stronger engagement, or a gradual lift in qualified traffic and leads.
Do you work with in-house teams or other agencies?
Yes, regularly. Collaboration is a core part of how we work.
We often partner with in-house marketing teams, web developers, content teams, and external agencies to ensure SEO is well integrated into broader digital efforts. Whether you need a technical SEO consultant to support a developer during a site rebuild, help aligning SEO with a brand’s content roadmap, or strategic input across a multi-channel campaign, we’re used to slotting in where needed.
For agencies, we can provide behind-the-scenes support, white-label delivery, or direct client-facing consulting, depending on your preference. We’re also happy to attend planning meetings, collaborate in shared tools, or contribute to existing workflows.
Our goal is to enhance what’s already in place, not disrupt it. We adapt to your way of working and make it easy to bring senior-level SEO expertise into your projects without adding complexity.
What if I'm not happy with the work or the results?
We approach every project with honesty, objectivity, and a commitment to doing our best work. If the results aren’t where they should be, we’ll communicate it openly and without spin. Our focus is always on managing expectations clearly, avoiding common cognitive biases, and ensuring you understand what’s working and what isn’t.
That said, we also recognise that sometimes expectations and outcomes may not align. For this reason, we don’t lock clients into long-term contracts. If at any point you feel the partnership isn’t delivering what you need, you’re free to pause or stop the work - no pressure and no exit fees. We believe trust should be earned, not enforced through paperwork.
